Joel Farabee takes a shot at John Tortorella.
Former Philadelphia Flyer Joel Farabee took a shot at his former head coach, John Tortorella.
It seems there may have been more than a little friction between now former Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee and his former head coach, John Tortorella.
On Saturday night Farabee and his new team, the Calgary Flames, faced off against the Montreal Canadiens in what proved to be a nail biter that would come down to the wire. It would be Farabee himself that would put the game away with just over 3 minutes left to go in the third period, with the score still tied at 0 - 0, picking up what would prove to be the only goal of the game.
Farabee was asked how he had felt about being out on the ice for a big game winning goal in the final minutes of the third period when he, unprompted, used the question as a vehicle to take a shot at his former head coach John Tortorella.
"It's a real treat," said Farabee. "I started my career in Philly as a guy that would kind of of go out there in the last minute and then when Torts came in that was no longer. So it's really nice to be trusted and to be out there."
You can listen to a short clip of Farabee's comments on Tortorella in the video just below:
Tortorella and Farabee very clearly clashed at times during their time together in Philadelphia, including one rather notorious incident when Tortorella benched Farabee for nearly an entire game because he "didn't listen."
It seems there may be some lingering animosity, at least from Farabee's end of things, but thankfully for Farabee he no longer has to play under his now former head coach.
