Joe Sacco confirms Brad Marchand is in the doghouse.
Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand rubbed his coach the wrong way this weekend.
The captain of the Boston Bruins has landed himself in the doghouse.
The Bruins suffered a pretty tough loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, allowing the Senators to claw their way back into the game in the third period, forcing overtime and eventually a shootout where the Senators would eventually pick up the victory. Following the conclusion of that loss Bruins head coach Joe Sacco spoke with the media and it was his answer to one of the questions that was asked that raised a few eyebrows.
You see Marchand was notably absent from the latter stages of the game including all of overtime as well as the shootout, which you would think would not be the case with such an important game within the division at stake. Many assumed that Marchand had probably suffered some kind of injury or ailment, but when asked about it after the game Sacco confirmed that Marchand was just fine.
"No, he wasn't hurt," said Sacco. "No, no."
Sacco did not look happy at all when answering questions about Marchand and when he was asked if it had been a coach's decision to leave Marchand on the bench he confirmed that was indeed the case.
"Yeah," was all Sacco said in response.
This would appear to indicate that Marchand has landed himself in Sacco's doghouse, which isn't a great sign for the team's captain after a new head coach takes over on an interim basis after the last one was fired in response to that team's poor performance.
