There is a growing sense that Jesse Puljujarvi will be traded out of Edmonton and that’s not just coming from the suggested pitch from Frank Seravalli that he could be traded for Florida Panthers’ Anthony Duclair in a one for one transaction.
The insider now reports that “all signs point to the end being near on Jesse Puljujarvi’s time with the Oilers”, with general manager Ken Holland sending a note to all 31 other clubs advising them that Puljujarvi is available.
Seravalli dresses a list of potential fits for Puljujarvi not only in any Edmonton trade partner and the aforementioned Panthers, but also in the St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning. The insider reveals that the Blues are “one of the teams that responded to Edmonton’s inquiry about Puljujarvi.”
As for the Bolts, Seravalli reminds us that they are “are the best in the business in development. They like to take swings and buy distressed assets, such as Philippe Myers from Nashville. If anyone can carve out a role for a fast, hard-working player, it’s the Lightning.”
If not, Seravalli sees Puljujarvi end up Salary Dump City. “The Blackhawks, Sabres, Ducks, Coyotes, Canadiens and Blue Jackets are all among the teams that would readily take on Puljujarvi’s contract for the right asset in return from Edmonton” he writes.
It is clear that the best outcome for Puljujarvi and the Oiler is to move on with a move! His stock has really tumbled since last summer when it wasn’t that high to begin with. He needs to grow elsewhere than in Edmonton and it needs to happen before this deadline comes and goes.
