The Boston Bruins are rolling with goaltender Jeremy Swayman in net, as starter Linus Ullmark continues his recovery from the injury he suffered earlier this month against the Arizona Coyotes.

Swayman earned the shutout this afternoon, making 31 saves against the visiting New Jersey Devils at TD Garden for his third blanking of the season.

Ever since Ullmark's arrival in Boston after having signed with the team as a free agent from the Buffalo Sabres in 2021, he and Swayman have formed perhaps the closest bond between a pair of goaltenders as can be found in the rest of the NHL. Their postgame celebrations routinely go viral, and even fans of rival teams can't help but smile.

And after his shutout performance today, Swayman described Ullmark in glowing terms, calling him a "Swedish Viking" and a "stud".

"I'm going to compete and give the team a chance to win every night," Swayman said. "No doubt in my mind Linus is going to be back in no time. He’s a Swedish viking. We all know that he's a stud, so he's going to be back and I can't wait to have him back."

Meanwhile, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery is happy with the way that Swayman is playing in Ullmark's absence.

“It’s nice to be able to see him have this opportunity,” said Montgomery after the win over the Devils. “If Linus wasn’t injured, we wouldn’t have seen it. But his makeup is someone that wants the net every night. Linus has that, too. The swagger that he brings, it feels like he never gets tired.”

The Bruins are off until Thursday when they will welcome in the visiting Colorado Avalanche.
