Jeff Marek breaks silence on Sportsnet’s exit!

BREAKING NEWS

NHL fans are still shocked by the news that rocked the hockey world on Thursday when it was reported that host Jeff Marek no longer works for Rogers Sportsnet. On Thursday, a spokesperson for Rogers Sportsnet said they don’t share details on individual employee matters, but did confirm that Marek was no longer with Sportsnet.

Finally on Friday, Marek used his social media accounts to make a statement:

“Firstly, thanks for the outpouring of kinds words on Twitter/X. It really means the world to me.”

“After 13 great years at Sportsnet, I’m moving on. It’s been an incredible journey and I’m thankful to have worked alongside so many great people and played a role in bringing sports and hockey news to fans across Canada and the world. More to come soon.

Marek had no been seen or heard from since hosting the NHL Draft back in June. One of the last detail given by his co-host and insider Elliotte Friedman came the day after the Draft when he hosted a post-draft podcast solo and referenced Marek leaving on a red eye. There was supposed to be a podcast after July 1 to review the state of play after the opening of free agency but obviously they never did as that show was reportedly cancelled.

Marek finally broke his silence on this situation, whiteout revealing much. As he mentioned, more will come on this situation, but it’s certainly good to hear from Marek at this time.
