Jean-Gabriel Pageau left bloody after scary shot to the face!
Bloody mess on the ice during the third period of the game vs. Vancouver. Watch below:
The New York Islanders keep fighting for a playoff spot in a tight race in the Eastern conference. Blood, sweat and tears, especially on Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks when veteran forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau took a shot off the face in the third period.
As he stood in front of Canucks defenseman Elias Pettersson, Pageau was right in the way of his slapper which caught him straight on the nose. The Isles’ forward went down and immediately a pool of blood emerged on the ice.
Pageau needed help to get up and the trainer promptly pressed a towel on his face to rush him down the tunnel and to the Islanders’ dressing room for repair.
The Canucks were leading by two when Pageau exited the game with half of the last frame to go. He had recorded an assist prior to his injury.
With less than five minutes to go however, Pageau returned to the game, but it was too late to get the victory over the Canucks.
