Jack Eichel ejected for spearing Kirill Kaprizov.
Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel gets tossed after spearing Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov.
Vegas Golden Knights star forward Jack Eichel was not impressed by this call.
Eichel's work day came to an early end on Saturday after he found himself ejected for a spear that he delivered to Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov. It wasn't the most vicious spear you're ever going to see, it looked like he made relatively little contact with Kaprizov, but the officials on the ice determined it still warranted a 5 minute major and a game misconduct.
Eichel looked stunned as he sat in the penalty box and listened as the announcement was made inside of the arena. So stunned in fact that Eichel would remain in the penalty box for several awkward moments before eventually leaving the ice. Eichel made sure he expressed his disbelief at the call with his body language as he exited the game.
It is no surprise that Eichel won't be happy about the outcome of this one, especially given the fact that, just moments prior to the spear, Kaprizov had sent Eichel down to the ice with a cross check to the back.
This is Jack Eichel's first career major penalty in the National Hockey League.
