One era ends in Edmonton, and another one begins.
41 year old goaltender Mike Smith is headed to LTIR, effectively signaling the end of his career. And with the departure of Mikko Koskinen back overseas, the Edmonton Oilers were in need of a new starting goaltender. General manager Ken Holland was able to snag arguably the top net minder on the free agent market in Jack Campbell, who had spent the last few seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Campbell, who has already been informally practicing with his new teammates, has revealed his new mask design and gear that he'll be wearing for his first year with Edmonton, and now his mask artist has done his usual reveal post. Just like 3/4 of all NHL goaltenders, Campbell utilizes the services of Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt, who specializes in extremely detailed mask artwork.
