J.T. Miller responds to fans throwing their jerseys on the ice.

The Vancouver Canucks have had a rough start to the season but things really seemed to come to a fever pitch both during and following their very first game of the season on home ice.

Up until that point the Canucks had lost 5 in a row and coming into that home game there was an expectation from fans that the Canucks would put out a high level effort in order to turn things around. What happened instead was a third period collapse where the Canucks players seemed unmotivated and the Canucks fan base let their anger be felt.

As many of you reading this will already know, several Canucks jerseys were tossed out onto the ice throughout the game, with some claiming that as many as 4 jerseys were tossed in total.

On Monday, Canucks forward J.T. Miller was asked about the incident over the weekend and what his reaction was to the jerseys being thrown on the ice by their hometown fans.

"I didn’t have one after the game, and I still don’t have one," said Miller as per Sportsnet's Brendan Batchelor. "If they want to throw their shit on the ice, that’s up to them."

Miller would go on to add that his focus needs to be entirely on the next opponent in front of him, something that seems quite reasonable given that the Canucks have done nothing but lose so far this season.

"I’m not worried about if people want to come to the game, pay all that money, and throw their jerseys on the ice.," added Miller. "Go ahead. I’ve got a job to do. I’m worried about beating the Canes tonight and having a good start to the game and us really trying to come together as a team"

The response thus far to Miller's comments appears to be largely negative, but perhaps he will get a chance to change that sentiment if he can live up to his own expectations and pick up a win over the Hurricanes later this evening.
