Ivan Demidov scores in his first NHL game!
Ivan Demidov blows the roof off the Bell Centre with a goal in his first ever NHL game.
Ivan Demidov is already living up to the hype.
There was an almost surreal amount of hype surrounding the young Russian forward on Monday in Montreal, with Demidov set to make his National hockey League debut in front of a rabid Montreal Canadiens fan base at the Bell Centre. Demidov's arrival in Montreal had been so hype in fact that he was mobbed at the airport in Toronto when he first landed in North America, but if his first game is any indication... that hype may very well have been warranted.
Demidov has not only already scored his first NHL goal but also has his first NHL assist, contributing on the two first goals scored by the Canadiens. His first point, an assist, would come after he used his speed and hands to give Alex Newhook a great chance in front of the Blackhawks net.
That was followed by Demidov pouncing on a bad bounce against the end boards, one that left the puck floating in front of the Blackhawks net. Demidov would again show off his hands, pulling off a quick move despite having limited space, for the first goal of his very young NHL career.
And to think this is only just the beginning for this young man.
