Adidas, the official jersey sponsor and manufacturer of the NHL, released a bit of a teaser video today that appears to show the classic Disney Mighty Ducks jersey.

As a result, fans are going absolutely bonkers predicting that the NHL's Anaheim Ducks will wear the "classic" Mighty Ducks jerseys from the 1992 Disney movie.

Check it out:

I mean... that looks like The Mighty Ducks to me.

Now, I don't know if this means that the jersey will show up in the NHL, or if Adidas is just retailing these jerseys officially now. It's also worth pointing out that there's a black/white/blue BOMBAY jersey, which I'm going to assume is meant to be the Hawks from the original movie? Real ones will remember that Coach Gordon Bombay played for the Hawks when he was a child, but left the organization on bad terms.

In any case, it looks like The Mighty Ducks' iconic jersey will now be for sale and you can finally grab one without needing to resort to some weird Chinese based counterfeit website.

I'm holding out hope that the Anaheim Ducks do in fact wear these and that they embrace their "history" a little more. Do they have a ridiculous team name? Yep. Is there history little more than a publicity stunt? Also, yes. Do I care? Not an ounce. Sure, there was a time when I would roll my eyes so hard I nearly gave myself a concussion over the Ducks' team name, logo and colours, but at this point I can't muster the outrage any more. The fact is that this team was dreamed up by Disney executives so that they could cash in on a fad of a movie series. Those are facts, so why not lean into the gimmick and go full on with it? Get Joshua Jackson out there to drop the puck for the ceremonial face-off as the Ducks take on the Chicago Blackhawks in some weird Ducks vs Hawks IRL match.

Years ago an idea like this would have sent me flying off the handle, but in a league where teams play out of 5,000 seat arenas and are named after mythical sea creatures, who even cares anymore? Mighty Ducks for life...
