Intriguing update on one of the league’s top free agents!
Training camps are just around the corner… Tatar is running out of time!

Tomas Tatar is one of the National Hockey League’s top free agents still unsigned and has been linked to a few contenders, including the Pittsburgh Penguins.
As time could be running out on Tatar to find a deal, it has just been reported that the veteran forward was seen training with HK Poprad in Slovakia.
There’s still time for the Penguins, or any other NHL club for that matter, to offer a PTO (professional tryout) to Tatar, who is coming off his third 20-goal season in the last five years.
While Pittsburgh might be too close to the cap ceiling, as Cap Friendly reports that the Penguins are currently $79,000 over the NHL’s salary cap with 22 players on the roster, including the injured Jake Guentzel, I don’t understand why Tatar hasn’t signed with any NHL team at this point.
The veteran forward recently revealed that he turned down a few offers this summer on free agency, which he may be regretting now…
I believe Tatar, who played in all 82 games for the New Jersey Devils last season, scoring 48 points, could be used as a utility middle-six winger who could even move up the top six if needed on any roster at this point.
At least, give him a PTO chance and see how his a strong veteran presence could impact a younger roster…
In the meantime, NHL teams know where to find him… Back home in his native Slovakia where he was recently awarded the country’s ‘Player of the Year’ award.
