Very bad news regarding Flyers goaltender
The Philadelphia Flyers have been remarkably silent on the status of goaltender Michael Neuvirth since the 29 year old collapsed to the ice during Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils
It was speculated that Neuvirth collapsed from either exhaustion or dehydration as he was believed to be battling through the same illness that forced Steve Mason out of the lineup the same evening. Whatever the cause, the Flyers have now announced that Neuvirth is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
The description is obviously and purposely vague and it’s expected that Neuvirth will sit out the Flyers remaining games, but the fact that the he’s been described as “dat-to-day” must come to relief to Flyers fans and, indeed, hockey fans everywhere. The sight of Neuvirth collapsing, seemingly out of nowhere for no apparent reason, was disturbing and almost immediately put the worst fears into fans’ minds. The hockey world has been holding their breath since Saturday evening hoping that they’d hear good news for Neuwirth’s health. This latest news provides at least a hint of positivity for his recovery.
