The Toronto Maple Leafs may have to face a tough Vegas Golden Knights squad without one of their defensemen in the lineup.

On Monday, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe revealed that the status of Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren remains "up in the air" ahead of the big game against the Golden Knights on Tuesday. Keefe described Liljegren's current situation as "day to day" but did stop short of ruling him out entirely for tomorrow's game.

"Day to day. Not ruled out for tomorrow," said Keefe. "Needed to give him an extra day, we'll see where he is at in the morning. Got banged up the other night."

It sounds like an absence from Liljegren would open up the door for veteran defenseman Mark Giordano to return, although that will of course depend on whether or not Liljegren is ready to go on Tuesday.

Here is how the Maple Leafs forward and defensive pairings looked in lieu of Liljegren's absence on Monday.

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Bertuzzi-Domi-Nylander
McMann-Tavares-Robertson
Holmberg-Kampf-Reaves

Brodie-McCabe
Rielly-Benoit
Giordano-Lagesson

The defensive pairings will of course change if Liljegren is ready to go.
