Imane Khelif on top of the world despite ugly boxing debate and foul accusations!
Very emotional scene in Paris. She fought as fans chanted her name in the boxing final.
Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has literally been fighting for her life ever since brutal bullying took over at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It reached a disgusting level last week when Khelif’s first opponent Angela Carini of Italy, quit their bout after 46 seconds. She bursted into tears after abandoning the fight with a suspected broken nose and claimed that this was “not an equal competition”. The boxing match immediately went viral for terrible reasons with particular attention given to Khelif previously being banned from fighting in women’s boxing events due to failing a gender eligibility test. However, Khelif complies with all entry and medical regulations set by ruling entities. Khelif entered the fight as the division’s No. 5 seed, while Liu entered as the No. 2 seed.
Despite the whole saga and even getting ‘transvestigated”, Khelif came out on top, winning the gold media over Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu-Ting, who also got bullied and mistreated over gender questions. The two finalists have XY chromosomes, but are women, are NOT trans or “secretly men”. The misinformed scrutiny has gotten so dangerous and unfair for both fighters.
The two boxers stood together and offered a powerful statement in a compelling match at the finals of women’s boxing at the Olympics.
Khelif was born female, raised as a woman and has competed in women’s boxing for years with clearance from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Prior to the finals, Khelif’s father even provided official documents on his daughter’s health and personal life, proving she is a woman. He added that he raised her as a girl and was sobbing on television for the treatment his daughter has received. Lin has long said she took up boxing as a little girl, in hopes of protecting her mom from domestic violence.
Khelif won by unanimous decision, as judges gaver her all three rounds, and celebrated with a special dance and with her very delighted training team. Just a great scene to watch at this year’s Olympics. Yu-Ting and her team also appeared very happy for Khelif and congratulated her on the victory.
After dancing around in the ring, Khelif was hoisted by one of her team members on to his shoulders, taking her on a victory lap as she held an Algerian flag over her head.
The courageous boxer secured Algeria’s first Olympic boxing medal since 2000 and it sparkles on her!
