Shesterkin could soon be the highest paid goaltender in the NHL!

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin is one of the top players in the National Hockey League at his respective position, and he's in line for a considerable raise from his modest AAV of less than $6 million when his current deal expires next summer.

A Vezina Trophy winner as the League's top goaltender in 2022, Shesterkin has continued the tradition of success between the pipes for the Rangers, following in the footsteps of franchise icons Mike Richter and Henrik Lundqvist. And many have projected that he could potentially become the highest paid goaltender in League history with his next contract.

Set to enter the last year of his current deal, Shesterkin confirmed that he has had talks with the Rangers regarding an extension through his agent - though he remains focused on preparing himself physically and mentally for the upcoming campaign.

"My agent, Maxim Moliver, is talking to the general manager," Shesterkin said. "I can't say anything else. For me, the most important thing now is preparing for the season and being 100% ready mentally and physically. An exciting season is ahead, and the agent will discuss the contract.

We have been working with Moliver for a long time. I came to America without knowing English, but Max lived in New York, so he could always go and help. It is very comfortable for us to work together. He does not have many clients, so he can pay much attention to me."

Shesterkin has won 119 games the last three seasons combined, and came in 4th in Vezina Trophy voting in 2023-24 after winning 36 games and leading the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Final.
