Huge update on Logan Thompson ahead of Game 4 in Montreal.
The Capitals get some big news regarding their injured goaltender on Sunday morning.
The Washington Capitals got a big surprise on Sunday morning and it is one that could very well mean that the Montreal Canadiens will also find themselves surprised in Game 4.
Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson appeared to suffer a serious injury in Game 3 of their opening round series against the Canadiens when he was run over by his own teammate, Capitals forward Dylan Strome. This was no minor bump either, and instead looked like a car wreck as Strome plowed through Thompson and appeared to fold his own goalie in half in the process.
Here's a look at how it all went down live:
Thompson appeared to be in bad shape and needed the help of both a teammate and a member of the Capitals training staff to help him off the ice, leaving many to speculate that we had perhaps seen the last of him in this series. As we learned today however, it seems Thompson is far from finished.
Thompson was shockingly on the ice for the Capitals morning skate on Sunday and even more surprising was the fact that, according to a report from the NHL's own Dan Rosen, Thompson was spotted in his usual spot in the starter's net.
Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault was also knocked out of Game 3 due to injury but if Thompson is able to return and Montembeault is not, this could give Washington a significant goaltending advantage in this series moving forward.
