Huge fail at home opener in Arizona as small arena isn’t even packed!

Uh oh…

The Arizona Coyotes have come home to play their first-ever game at Mullett Arena in Tempe on Friday as they face the Winnipeg Jets. However, before the puck was dropped, by none other than Shane Doan and his son Arizona State sophomore Josh Doan, there were players introductions and let’s just say it allowed fans at home to see what the 5000-seat arena looks like.

First of all, this is not a sellout crowd. According to many reporters on site, there are seats available, though Mark Lazerus did point out that the student zone was packed.

The empty seats did not take the attention away from Coyotes’ players who did not look thrilled to be playing there. There was an obvious lack of enthusiasm and when defenseman Jakob Chychrun was presented to the crowd, he was met with a smattering of boos.

That had to confirm for him that he wants out, and fast...

To make it all worse, fans were commenting on how many fans in attendance were in fact wearing Jets’ jerseys. Many could not believe that an NHL teams remains in Arizona while the Jets were moved in 1996 to Phoenix for way less drama.

There was hope that the crowd would get loud and excited whenever Arizona would get on the board and the Coyotes did have the first goal in an NHL game at Mullett Arena thanks to Christian Fischer.

But huge fail again, no goal horn to celebrate the tally. Wow…

Let's hope it gets better in Tempe... Sure, I am watching a hockey game, but it kinda feels like it's a junior one.
