Huge blow to Max Domi in Toronto!

The forward is falling out of favor and this could be in the cards for him. Full story below:

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi needs to get out of his funk. With veteran forward John Tavares out of the lineup due to injury, fans and pundits assume that Domi was going to make the most of it and benefit from more offensive opportunities… but it has not been the case. So much so that both Harman Dayal and Chris Johnston of the Athletic believe Domi has fallen out of favour in Toronto and has become a trade candidate under the radar ahead of the March 7 deadline. Both reporters bluntly expose Domi’s struggles:

“In fact, after signing a $15 million, four-year extension in Toronto last summer, Domi is producing the worst per-game scoring numbers of his 10-year NHL career.”

However, that aforementioned contract could be too much of an obstacle for general manager Brad Treliving to move Domi.

“The three years remaining on his contract virtually guarantees Domi will remain in Toronto beyond the trade deadline. He also owns a 13-team no-trade clause.”

Dayal and Johnston have still placed Domi on the list, which makes you wonder if he could end up elsewhere, perhaps in the offseason once his contract would be easier to move.

In the meantime, there is only one thing Domi can do: swallow the hit from the insiders, get back on track and follow head coach Craig Berube’s advice to take more shots.
