This poor kid.

These stories are always difficult to share but I take solace in the fact that many members of the hockey community are already being wonderful people and showing themselves to be terrific ambassadors for the game.

This week a young woman named Megan took to social media and publish what was effectively a cry for help as she reached out to the hockey community in the hopes of finding support for her young cousin Noah Dugas. Noah, a young hockey player, suffered an unimaginable tragedy that was caused by something that will hit very close to hockey fans, a blood clot in his brain. This is eerily reminiscent of the situation that took the life of Edmonton Oilers player Colby Cave earlier this year, a moment that left the hockey community stunned when such a young and fit young man had suddenly lost his life.

Either the family or friends of the family, and perhaps even Megan herself, have been publishing updates on Noah via a Facebook page simply titled "Noah Strong" and here's what they had to say about Noah's current status.

Noah Dugas is a name many people have come to love. The 13 year old young man is a beloved individual in his own family, peer group and community.

To say his name bring fourth many qualities that encompass the outstanding person that he truly is. Kind, sinciere, heart of gold, helpful, authentic, sweet, selfless, strong, athletic, humorous, and most of all loving are just some of the qualities that his family and friends use to describe Noah.

In the last few months, Noah has had some health concerns which led to the last incident on August 29th, 2020 being a more severe stroke. Since this day, Noah has battled through many challenges and continues to do so each and every day.

Noah's medical needs have led the family to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. This has meant both parents Dave Dugas and Jody Luesby Dugas having to leave their home, employment, and beloved daughter back in North Bay in order to be with Noah during this difficult time.

Each day, Noah is showing signs of progress, however his journey will be taking him to a Rehabilitation Centre where he will continue his brave fight.

As I stated earlier I am happy to say that the message has reached several prominent figures in the NHL, here are just a few examples of the responses Noah and his family are getting.

The Penguins sent Noah a message:

Veteran NHL analyst Don Cherry:

From Columbus Blue Jacket Nick Foligno:

Toronto Maple Leaf Mitch Marner:

Perhaps best of all though, a rep from Bauer hockey reached out Megan and has offered to help in some way.

It is great to see so many prominent members of the hockey community reaching out to young Noah in what has to be an unimaginably difficult time for this poor young man. I would ask that you please send any love and support that you can Noah's way, let us continue to show the world that the hockey community always rallies around their own.
