Helm axe chops Lindholm and gets punished by NHL Player Safety!
What a rough two-handed slash!
HockeyFeed
Things heated up in last night during the Calgary Flames’ 5-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings, so much that the NHL Player Safety department made someone pay.
Literally.
During the third period of the contest, Flames forward Elias Lindholm attempted to hit veteran Darren Helm in the face with his elbow, but the Wings player managed to get out of the way.
Once he got back to his feet, Helm was fuming and skated over to Lindholm to take revenge. He took his stick with his two hands and axe chopped the young forward in the legs.
Helm was given a game misconduct and ejected from the contest for his actions. Lindholm needed help to get off the ice after the hit, in obvious pain.
On Friday, NHL Player Safety got the last word, fining Helm $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Lindholm.
