The Montreal Canadiens are absolutely beating the wheels off the Arizona Coyotes this evening.

Still in the first period, the Habs have a 4-0 lead with just five shots on goal and are dominating the play on every inch of the ice. That domination includes both with and without the gloves on evidently as well, as Habs rookie Arber Xhekaj absolutely rag-dolled Coyotes veteran Zack Kassian in an extremely one sided scrap.

Check it out:

Wow! Now THAT'S a scrap!

If you're not familiar with Xhekaj, just know that he's an absolute BEAUTY. The 21 year old free agent signing cracked the Habs' roster in training camp this pre-season and has not looked out of place for a moment in the team's first four regular season games. The best part? Just a calendar year ago he was working part-time stocking shelves at Costco, not knowing if he'd ever be able to live out his NHL dreams. Now he's playing for the Montreal Canadiens and beating the wheels off of veterans at center ice of the Bell Centre. Pretty wild stuff.

The 6'4", 240 pound native of Hamilton, Ontario is making a case for himself to be a full-time member of the Habs' growing young core if he keeps putting up performances like this. Hell, even if he doesn't put the puck in the net, he's worth keeping around for providing the team with a spark with big hits and big fights. Love this kid and the energy he brings on the ice and in the dressing room. He never put up numbers playing with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers either, his career best was just six goals and 17 points in a season... and he did that three consecutive times. His final year in junior he put up 84 penalty minutes in just 33 games and proved that he'll take on anyone, anytime, any place. Again, that's well worth a roster spot in my eyes. Here's hoping that the the Habs' new coaching and management staff appreciate what he brings to the table and that they keep a roster spot open for him.
