A scary scene took place on Wednesday night at TD Place where the Ottawa 67s took on the Kingston Frontenacs. Montreal Canadiens prospect Vinzenz Rohrer was propelled onto the ice after a tough hit to the hip by Thomas Budnick, falling awkwardly, hitting his head on the ice in the progress.

He then started convulsing as trainers rushed to help him. Rohrer ended up being placed on a stretcher as a dead quiet TD Place looked on.

Before the incident, Rohrer had found the back on the net to put his 67s on the score board.

The team shared an official statement that Rohrer is awake and talking, and has movement in all of his extremities.
He has been taken to hospital for further evaluation.

Rohrer was selected in the third round, 75th overall by the Canadiens in this past summer’ draft. He captained Austria at the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship and scored his first goal of the tournament in the relegation game against Latvia.

He is yet another Habs prospect to leave a game on a stretcher this season as poor Xavier Simoneau ended exit a game with the help on trainers. Last month, Simoneau, who was selected in the sixth round in last year’s draft by the Habs, was hit by a stick in the defensive zone in an AHL’s Rockets’ game and fell down on the ice. He was unconscious as trainers got him on a stretcher and took on many precautions to take him out of the Place Bell.

Let’s hope Rohrer gets better soon and that his injury isn’t too serious - as scary as it looked.
