Among the several things during Tuesday night's game that didn't go right for the Detroit Red Wings was the fact that they lost goaltender Ville Husso just minutes into his first start since mid-December.

He had suffered a lower body injury against the Anaheim Ducks that landed him on the shelf for an extended period of time. The unfortunate latest news from the Red Wings is that the Finnish goaltender is once again dealing with a lower-body ailment and is expected to miss several weeks yet again.

"Lower body," explained coach Derek Lalonde when asked about Husso's status. "Met with the doctor this morning. He'll be out, it's going to be that week to week range."

However, it sounds as though it's not the same injury as he suffered back in December, but is still categorized as a lower body injury nonetheless.

"Different lower body, but lower body and again, week to week unfortunately," Lalonde continued.

And understandably, this means that James Reimer will be seeing action in the near future given the fact that the Red Wings don't want to overwork Alex Lyon, who has played the majority of games in the last month.

"Of course, and obviously, with having to use Alex the other night, that's 17 of the last 18 Alex has played, and with 31 games left, we'll have to be smart in how we manage it," Lalonde said of utilizing Reimer.

Husso is in the second year of a three year, $14.25 million deal that he signed with Detroit following his acquisition in a 2022 trade with the St. Louis Blues.

Detroit's road trip continues tonight against the Vancouver Canucks, which will be followed by games against the Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken before returning home to Detroit.
