Gaudreau surprisingly receives a standing ovation in his return to Calgary
A classy move from the Flames' faithful.

In case you missed it last night, the Calgary Flames were able to get a measure of success over Johnny Gaudreau and the Columbus Blue Jackets, earning themselves a 4-3 overtime victory at the Saddledome last night.
It was Gaudreau's return to Calgary for the first time since his offseason signing with the Blue Jackets and, as you might imagine, the Calgary "boo-birds" were out in full effect for Johnny Hockey.
He did, however, receive a standing ovation from members of the crowd though after the team played a 'Thank You' video on the scoreboard:
Gaudreau actually played a solid game for Columbus, picking up two assists and nearly bringing his team equal with a penalty shot opportunity.
In the end though, the Blue Jackets just can't compete with the Flames. And to be clear, this isn't a Flames team that's exactly firing on all cylinders. This is a struggling Flames team that is scratching and clawing for every point possible as they look to move up the Pacific Division standings.
The highlight of the game for me came during the 2nd period with the score even. Pugilists Milan Lucic and Mathieu Olivier met at center ice, dropped the gloves and gave us possibly the best scrap of the entire 2022-23 NHL season.

Bomb after bomb after bomb!
You love to see it! Old time hockey, baby!
