In spite of the fact that they weren't on the same team, at least not in the National Hockey League, Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield had one of the most touching tributes to the late Johnny Gaudreau that I have seen thus far.

Caufield announced last week that he would be ditching the #22 that he has worn thus far in the NHL and would instead be wearing #13 moving forward in honor of his idol, Johnny Gaudreau. In fact Caufield even got a little help from the National Hockey League to make this very classy tribute a reality.

But what does Johnny's family think of his tribute?

Well since Caufield published his lovely tribute to Johnny, Johnny's wife has gotten the chance to respond as well as his good friend Kevin Hayes. Both Meredith Gaudreau and Kevin Hayes have since commented on the post in which Caufield announced the number change, both signaling their approval of Caufield's tribute to their friend and husband.

Hayes' message was short and sweet.

"Love this eloc," he wrote spelling Caufield's first name backwards.

Meredith's message was just as lovely.

"Highlight of his summer was with you guys. He loves you eloc," wrote Meredith in response to Hayes' original response.

It would seem that Cole Caufield has the full support of the Gaudreau's friends and family and I can only imagine that the rest of the hockey world supports him in honoring a player and a man that he idolized so much.
