Gary Bettman has priceless reaction to Montreal winning draft lottery
What was that, Gary???

The NHL held its annual draft lottery Tuesday, and the Montreal Canadiens will pick first overall. They entered the event with the best chances to win the lottery (18.5%). To make the story even better, the draft is scheduled for July 7-8 in Montreal.
You’d think everyone would be looking forward to, let’s say Shane Wright, getting selected by Montreal in front of their passionate fans, but NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman had the weirdest reaction to the Canadiens landing the first pick.
While deputy commissioner Bill Daly was the one in studios announcing the order, the lottery took place earlier on Tuesday with Bettman in charge. The ordeal was filmed and when the Canadiens were confirmed as the winner of the NHL lottery draft, Bettman reacted in just a bizarre way:
He’s the one who made up the rules in March 2021! Among them: A team can move up a maximum of 10 spots by winning the lottery, meaning the club with the 12th-best odds can’t come away with the No. 1 pick. Also, no team is allowed to win the lottery more than two times in a five-year period.
For years, it’s been said that Bettman does not like Canadian teams - must I remind you how he simply refuses to give up on the Arizona Coyotes for a potential move to Quebec City when a fully read arena awaits with a huge market for hockey?!
This is just a stupid reaction from a man who cannot accept that NHL fans are devoted in Canada. The Canadiens’ rebuild could kick off with this selection and everyone is looking forward to it…
Well, expect Gary…
