The J.T. Miller trade watch is over. On Friday, the Vancouver Canucks moved Miller to the New York Rangers, less than an hour before their game against the Stars in Dallas.

Miller reportedly agreed to waive his ‘no-trade’ clause to accept a trade to the New York Rangers and had already left the building in Dallas as the Canucks were preparing for puck drop.

It took time to get all of the details of the trade, however, thanks to many insiders, we now know that Miller, along with Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington have heading to New York in return for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and a top 13 protected first-rounder. Should it land that high, the pick converts to an unprotected 2026 first-rounder.

Most importantly for Vancouver is that the Canucks are not retaining any money on Miller’s contract, which is a huge part of the puzzle for them

The star centre is on the second season of a seven-year, $56 million contract with an annual cap hit of $8 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2029-30 campaign.

Miller is expected to be part of the Blue Shirts’ lineup as they take on the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
