Front-runner emerges in second Jonathan Quick trade!
The Blue Jackets are looking to do right by the veteran goalie:

It sounds like Jonathan Quick’s time with the Columbus Blue Jackets won’t last long.
Earlier today, it was reported that Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen has been in touch with Quick, but still provided the very vague update: ”we’ll see what happens.” Kekalainen also mentioned that he hopes the team can “do the right thing” for him.
The sense across the league is that Columbus could attempt to flip Quick again on the trade market, and it is believed that the Vegas Golden Knights have had serious talks with the Blue Jackets about the veteran netminder.
On Wednesday morning, both Frank Seravalli and Pierre LeBrun hint at the possibility that Quick could be flipped again before the deadline.
Seravalli also wonders if the Blue Jackets could have a shot at Arizona Coyotes blue liner Jakob Chychrun now that the team holds assets/picks and could package them to take a shot at the coveted defenseman on the market. Though I can't imagine Quick wanting to be part of that deal if it materializes.
Seravalli explained how the Golden Knights were working towards a deal to land Quick though "there are salary cap obstacles that could prevent it from getting across the finish line."
This season, the veteran goalie is 11-13-4 in 31 appearances with the Kings, recording a .876 save percentage and 3.50 GAA.
Quick is set to become a pending unrestricted free agent in the final season of a 10-year, $58 million contract with an AAV of $5.8 million. He might prefer to be moved again, to a contender, for another shot at the Stanley Cup before calling it quits.
Stay tuned.
