Francois Brassard scores the first goalie goal in franchise history!

What a shot!

A goalie known for putting on a show for the fans has done it yet again.

The Maine Mariners of the ECHL have just announced that they have had the first goalie goal in the history of their franchise and it comes courtesy of none other than former Ottawa Senators 6th round pick (166th overall) at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, goaltender Francois Brassard.

Brassard scored when his team was already up 4-2 and their opponents had pulled their goalie for the extra skater, firing the puck nearly all 200 feet down the ice. The puck would cross the goalie line with plenty of time left on the clock, leaving no doubt that Brassard's goal was a good one, leading to an awesome moment of celebration from the goaltender.

As I mentioned Brassard has something of a knack for being a part of big moments like this, including a similar situation when he scored a goal while playing junior hockey.

He also famously pummeled Utah goalie Kevin Carr back when the two men clashed at center ice for an ultra-rare goalie fight. This occurred back when Brassard was a member of the Wheeling Nailers in February of 2021.

This, as it turns out, will be just one more incredible moment he can add to his career highlight reel.
