The Arizona Coyotes already have a lot on their plate, but it looks like they will address this. Coyotes forward Adam Ruzicka recently posted a story on Instragram where he can be clearly seen with cocaine in front of him. In the video, Ruzicka appears to have set up a station in order to consume the cocaine, then flips the camera towards himself where he grins like an idiot, almost proud of what he is about to do.
As you can imagine, the video has since been removed from Ruzicka’s account, though it was copied and posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. Here is what was once on Ruzicka’s Instagram page:
It’s hard to say what the Coyotes will do with this video that has gone viral despite being erased from its original source.
Ruzicka is newly a member of the Coyotes after he was claimed on waivers by Arizona. He was waived by the Calgary Flames on January 24, and claimed by the Yotes. He since has played three games for Arizona, but however failed to record a point. In his role as a depth forward in Calgary, he had three goals and nine points in 39 games. Back in 2017, Ruzicka was selected in the fourth round, 109th overall by the Flames. In 117 games in the NHL, the Slovakian forward has put up 14 goals and 40 points.
Later on Friday, the Coyotes went to placed Ruzicka on waivers with the purpose of contract termination. He could use this time, as a free agent, to get help from the NHL and NHLPA Players Assistance program.
You may remember how Washington Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov got in trouble when he received a four year ban from the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) after testing positive for cocaine at the 2019 IIHF World Championships. Kuznetsov was caught on film during the tournament with cocaine lines spread out on a nearby table. Kuznetsov declined any involvement with the drug and played the whole situation off as a “wrong place, wrong time” type situation. The NHL and the Capitals accepted his explanation, closing the matter formally.
We will have to wait out and see what the NHL and Coyotes do about this unfortunate situation.
