Here he is again and this time, he has us shaking our heads off the ice. Back in April, former NHL forward and pest Sean Avery had chosen to represent himself at the Manhattan Criminal Court on a misdemeanor charge.
The judge finally convinced him to get represented and on Thursday, Avery showed up with a lawyer to get his case in motion.
It all started when he was accused of slamming his scooter into a car in a road rage incident back in 2019. The victim claimed that the former New York Rangers forward had damaged his car following a dispute over a bike lane. Avery’s outburst allegedly left a small hole in his vehicle’s door, near where the victim’s 4-year-old daughter was sitting at the time of the incident.
After turning down several plea deals from prosecutors, Avery was found guilty of the misdemeanor charge following a short bench trial this week. According to the spokesperson, Avery was sentenced to time served. The judge in the case also issued full orders of protection for the victims.
Cleary, Avery’s fiery and disrespectful attitude wasn’t only an NHL thing - he took it to the streets in 2019 and was found guilty.
