Former 1st round pick sadly passes away at just 67 years old
RIP, thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and former teammates.
The Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins have both announced that former NHLer Dwight Foster has passed away at just 67 years old.
Foster was selected 16th overall by the Bruins in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft following a historic season with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers. Foster led the entire OHL in scoring with a remarkable 60 goals and 143 points in just 64 games with the Rangers, establishing himself as a top prospect heading into the draft.
He took a few years to establish himself at the NHL level but in his first full season with the team he managed a stellar 24 goals and 52 points. Foster would play the next season with the Colorado Rockies before moving on to join the Red Wings for four seasons before returning to Boston to end his career.
He finished his NHL career after the 1986-87 season with 274 total points throughout 541 games.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Foster's friends, family members and former teammates.
