Foligno punishes Kolesar for hit on Jiricek.
Marcus Foligno gets a measure of revenge for David Jiricek who left the game with an injury.
The Minnesota Wild won't be happy about the injury to defenseman David Jiricek, but they didn't have to wait long to get their revenge on Sunday night.
Jiricek would leave the game with an apparent head injury after he was driven into the boards by Vegas Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar. It was a dangerous situation that resulted in an injury and both Jiricek and his teammates on the Wild appeared to be furious with Kolesar after the incident occurred.
Here's a look at the incident that started all the drama:
The Wild would challenge Kolesar following the hit and it would be veteran forward Marcus Foligno who would eventually drop the gloves with Kolesar, who to his credit quickly answered the challenge. Unfortunately things would not go Kolesar's way at all in this one.
Outside of a few shots to the body the Golden Knights forward appeared to be unable to mount any real response to the offense from Foligno who threw a few punches at his opponent before removing his helmet and throwing even more. Kolesar seemed more interested in just hanging on for dear life, which to his credit did help him avoid any serious damage he might have otherwise taken in an exchange of punches.
