Flyers push yet another player on the trade block but this one is quite the challenge!

After moving Provorov, trade rumours surfaced on Hart, Konecny and Laughton, but wait, there’s more!

It all started last week when Philadelphia Flyers GM Daniel Briere traded defenseman Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets via the Los Angeles Kings. The rumour mill went spinning with everyone wondering which players Briere might move next.

Chatter got louder on goalie Carter Hart as the Flyers stated that they’d be willing to listen to offers on a trade for the 24-year-old goaltender, while speculations emerged on forward Travis Konecny, who has been linked to the Edmonton Oilers. Rumours also surfaced that “many teams” expressed interest in Scott Laughton during last week’s NHL draft combine in Buffalo. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman believes the Flyers prefer to retain the veteran forward but could move him if they get the right place.

This all prompted the Flyers and GM Briere to attempt moving yet another player on the trade block. But this one is quite the challenge. Friedman explained how Philadelphia has been aggressively exploring Tony DeAngelo’s value in the trade market.

“I think they are aggressive on that front about trying to see what the market is for him.”

The problem is that, due in part to his reputation, the defenseman might not draw as much interest as Hart, Konecny or Laughton because of his inconsistency on the ice and rocky relationship with authority…

Former general manager Chuck Fletcher signed DeAngelo to a two-year deal in the summer of 2022, meaning that he will still be on the books for the Flyers come next season at a cap hit of $5 million.

I get why Briere is looking to move him too.
