Flyers make great gesture to Gaudreau family on Monday morning.

The Philadelphia Flyers go above and beyond for the family of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.

The Philadelphia Flyers are showing a great deal of class.

As the vast majority of you reading this will already know, the hockey community was shaken to its core last month when it was announced that both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau had been killed in a horrific incident. Both brothers had significant ties to the hockey community and their tragic passing resulted in an outpouring of love and support from all around the world, the likes of which I'm not sure I have personally witnessed before.

That tragedy has left the Gaudreau family devastated and although there is nothing that will ever bring Johnny and Matthew back, I am happy to report that efforts to support the family remain ongoing.

The Flyers are the latest to demonstrate this when they had a surprise guest at their morning skate on Monday, none other than Guy Gaudreau himself. Guy is of course the father of Johnny and Matthew and is credited as the man who made the boys fall in love with the sport of hockey, taking them to a local ice rink each day to skate and play alongside his sons.

It was a beautiful touch by the Flyers to invite Guy to be their guest on Monday, and a great show of class from the organization as a whole. In the photo below, you can see Guy standing alongside the boards with several members of the Flyers team.

In this second photo, you can see Guy skating along the ice alongside Flyers skills coach Angelo Ricci.

It is a small gesture in the grand scheme of things but it is one that I have no doubt will be appreciated by Guy Gaudreau himself and the rest of the Gaudreau family.

Great job Flyers.
