In case you've been living under a rock, Hockey Canada is reeling from a SECOND sexual assault scandal after a woman stepped forward to say that she was "gang raped" by 8 members of the 2003 Canadian World Juniors team.

Halifax police (the event was held in Halifax, NS) have opened an investigation into the allegations, while Hockey Canada has started its own investigation.

The details of the allegations are disturbing to say the least and there is reportedly a videotape of the assault, with full narration from one of the players involved.

Full details from TSN's Rick Westhead:

The video shows roughly a half-dozen players taking turns having sex with a woman who was non-responsive and lying face up on the pool table, the source said.

Two sources said they watched the video on a VHS tape in an apartment in the spring of 2003.

The third source said that one of the players on the 2003 World Juniors team borrowed their video camera during the tournament in Halifax. The recording was on the camera when it was returned to them. That person said they did not inform police about the recording and deleted the video from their camera after being pressured to do so by players. The source said they believe a copy of the video was made when the camera was not in their possession.

In the wake of this scandal several members of the 2003 roster have stepped forward to deny their involvement of the allegations. Most have said that they weren't even aware of the allegations until they became public last month. Former NHLers PA Parenteau, Carlo Colaiacovo, Dan Paille and Jordin Tootoo have all cleared their names but Minnesota Wild netminder Marc Andre Fleury declined to comment on the allegations when confronted by Quebec's La Presse newspaper earlier this week.

From La Presse:

Questioned by La Presse , the 37-year-old goalkeeper limited himself to repeating that he had "no comments" to make in relation to this case.

Tuesday evening, La Presse invited him to comment on the 2003 allegations. "No comments, thank you," he replied, politely, twice.

Nearly the entire roster of that 2003 WJC team has played in the NHL with Fleury being the last remaining player. When the dust finally settles and we know the names of the alleged parties, that's when things will really blow up.
