Flames' MacKenzie Weegar complains about octopus thrown on ice
Safe to say Weegar is not a fan of the legendary tradition!

For decades now, fans of the Detroit Red Wings have embraced the unorthodox tradition of throwing an octopus onto the ice during games, but it drew the ire of one particular Calgary Flames defenseman.
After a Red Wings fan threw an octopus onto the ice from the stands late in Detroit's 5-0 victory over the Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday afternoon, MacKenzie Weegar wasn't shy about voicing his displeasure afterward, saying that it was "gross".
"It looked like a big loogie," Weegar said. "I did (see it) it was gross. It sucked that it was thrown out there.”
Not to be outdone, a Red Wings fan did the same thing after Detroit's overtime victory over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena yesterday afternoon:
