Flames announce their first 2 free agent signings.

The Calgary Flames were very quiet on the opening day of free agency but they have just announced their first two signings of the free agency period.

According to an announcement from the Flames official website, the Flames have signed veteran forward Dryden Hunt and defenseman Colton Poolman. All due respect to both men these are relatively underwhelming signings, although with limited cap space this summer the Flames aren't likely to make any big splashes.

Hunt bounced all over the place last season playing for the New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche and even the Toronto Maple Leafs at various points during the campaign. In total he appeared in 37 NHL games, scoring 3 goals and picking up no assists for a total of 3 points on the season. Hunt has been signed to a 2 year deal with an average annual value and cap hit of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Poolman on the other hand has no NHL experience and spent last season with the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League, scoring twice and adding 12 assists for a total of 14 points on the campaign. Poolman received a 1 year deal worth $775,000.

The Flames also announced that they have signed restricted free agent forward Martin Pospisil to a new deal, also a 1 year contract with a cap hit of $775,000 at the NHL level.
