Evander Kane was taught a hard lesson by Dustin Byfuglien!

It has been clear that Evander Kane has matured, especially since he signed with the Edmonton Oilers. That’s one thing that former NHLer and teammate of Kane, Nik Antropov has noticed and believes the fact that the Oilers’ forward has become a father helped him immensely.

On the air of the Cam and Strick podcast, Antropov recalled how much a of “young f***ing punk” Kane was when they played together for the Winnipeg Jets, and how defenseman Dustin Byfuglien had to come in and teach him a hard lesson, simply because Kane would not listen.

“He wouldn’t listent to anybody and I guess that’s why the whole incident happened, like Buff threw his sh*t in the f***ing hot tub and stuff.”

It was a tumultuous time for Kane in Winnipeg despite getting selected fourth overall in the 2009 NHL Draft by the then-Atlanta Thrasher who moved and became the Jets in 2011.

It’s not the first time we hear about the tub incident, in which it was believed that Buff wanted to “send a message” after Kane showed up to a team meeting in casual attire.

The now retired defenseman once explained the incident saying “I’m sure you have rules in your household … and if the kids don’t stick to it, you’ve got to discipline them. It is what it is.”

Antropov and other teammates were clearly well aware of the tense relationship between Kane and Byfuglien, though now the former NHLer can see how Kane has changed and matured after playing for the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks and Oilers.

“I guess he changed he grew up, he’s got a family now, it’s different now - he was just a young f***ing punk and I was in my 11th-12th year in the league so veteran guys just trying to help.”

Some say Kane could use a guy like Byfuglien in Edmonton to make sure the Oilers’ forward stays on track, but for now, it seems to be going just fine for Kane and his family.
