Evander Kane spotted at Sharks practice facility but team remains in the dark.
Will the controversial forward return to the NHL?
In spite of the fact that there was a whole lot of discussion surrounding him in the offseason, for all of the wrong reasons, things have been relatively quiet this season on the Evander Kane front.
The National Hockey League handed Kane a 21 game suspension prior to the start of the regular season after it was allegedly discovered that he had submitted a fake document pertaining to his vaccination status. That suspension has kept him away from his team for the entirety of the season thus far, but there may be signs that Kane will in fact return to the Sharks after all.
On Sunday, Sharks insider Kevin Kurz reported that Kane has been spotted at the Sharks practice facility. Kane was spotted there on Saturday and, while it isn't clear why he was there, we do know that his fellow Sharks teammates were not on hand at the time. Kurz also added that there was no sign of Kane today at the practice facility, which could mean that he was only there for a brief meeting or to pick up his equipment rather than in preparation for a return to play.
What makes this entire situation so interesting is that, genuinely, no one seems to have any idea of what will come next for Evander Kane. According to Kurz, Sharks head coach Bob Boughner was asked about the controversial forward and it sounds like he is just as much in the dark as you or I. Boughner indicated that there were "decisions to be made" on the Kane front, but had no information on when or what those might be.
Even more interesting is that Kurz says he believes Boughner is being genuine here. According to the insider the team has been kept in the dark throughout this process, although he doesn't understand why.
It was reported in the offseason that Kane is far from a popular figure in the Sharks locker room, at least among some of his fellow teammates, and it could very well be that this is playing a role in why the Sharks themselves are being kept in the dark about what will come when Kane is eligible to return on November 30th.
