Evander Kane shares video where racist cyclist tells him, “You don't belong here!”

The Oilers forward is going viral for this interaction yesterday.

Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane is going viral online today after he shared a video of an interaction with a racist cyclist in Edmonton, Alberta.

Kane says that the cyclist spat on Kane's vehicle as he drove by and then proceeded to tell Kane and his friend, "You people don't belong here."

From Kane:

"This cyclist was riding his bike past my vehicle and decided to spit on it as he rode by. I then confronted him as he tried to deny the claim. Luckily, a friend of mine who was driving in the area pulled over to intervene in our conversation. This gentleman then proceeded to tell my friend and me, and I quote, 'You people don't belong here.' It's incredibly disappointing that there are still people like this today."

And here's the video interaction that's going viral:

Now, I have no way of verifying whether Kane's account of events is accurate so I can't weigh in on who said what. But I do know that racism is alive and thriving in parts of Canada. It's incredibly sad and pathetic, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kane's story rings true.

I wish that Kane had gotten this guy's racist remarks caught on camera. I wish even more though that Kane absolutely dummied this guy in the middle of the street for said remarks.
