Evander Kane could be cleared to play today.
Big update on the injured Oilers forward.
The Edmonton Oilers are in a tough playoff battle in the Pacific Division but the good news for them is it sounds like reinforcements may be on the way, and very soon at that.
According to a report from Edmonton Oilers insider Ryan Rishaug, it would appear as though Oilers forward Evander Kane is seeking medical clearance to get back out on the ice and return to play. Although Rishaug did not appear to be 100% certain when the appointment would be, he did indicate that he believes the appointment for Kane to seek clearance is set to take place today.
Kane has of course been one of Edmonton's most dynamic forwards since he joined the team during the 2021-22 National Hockey League regular season and that was true this season as well prior to his injury. Although he only appeared in 14 games prior to his injury, Kane had already collected 5 goals and 8 assists for 13 points on the season.
Kane suffered a very severe laceration to his wrist when he was cut by the skate of Pat Maroon all the way back in November of 2022. It would be nothing short of incredible to see Kane return so quickly after what was such a scary injury.
