On Saturday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets hosted the Chicago Blackhawks and got the commanding 5-1 win to celebrate late Johnny Gaudreau’s son’s first birthday with the home crowd.

After the contest, with everyone in a happy mood, one reporter asked goaltender Elvis Merzlikins what had happened at some point in the game when he got up gingerly following a save and one of his own defensemen falling on top of him.

Merzlikins quickly opened up on how he felt the goalpost in between his cheeks after getting pushed into his own net.

“I got the post in my butt and it didn’t feel good. I tell you, I really felt the post between my cheeks. It didn’t feel good.”

He then added, laughing: “It’s weird guys, I’m sorry. I felt it was cold as well… it wasn’t good.”

You have to appreciate how honest the guy is! The media members had a good laugh, but I’m pretty sure if they’d been in Merzlikins’ spot, they wouldn’t have been laughing as much!
