“The Canucks will be very active sellers at the trade deadline.”

Trade rumours are getting so loud in Vancouver that we cannot call it chatter anymore. Canucks president Jim Rutherford has made it clear that major surgery is needed for a rebuild and that he will listen to offers on different players ahead of the trade deadline.
While it’s been clear that captain Bo Horvat will be on the move, especially after a contract extension was inked by Andrei Kuzmenko on Thursday, and the names of Luke Schenn, Brock Boeser and Tyler Myers have also been mentioned. However, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman doubts the Canucks will stop there as he believes more players will land on the trade market in Vancouver.
“I think Boeser is going to be dealt, I think, some point in time, I think Myers will be dealt, whether it’s this year or after his bonuses due in the summer, I think they’re going to try to move some other players out,” Friedman reported on Tim and Friends Thursday.
“I think you’re going to see a bunch of other guys moved… Horvat, Boeser, Myers and maybe Demko - I never thought I would say that, but I think we’re getting to that possibility too.”
While the Canucks want to keep some core players, including Kuzmenko and JT Miller, and preferably Elias Pettersson as well, there is a sense that these players will be untouchables and management will listen to any other offer.
It will certainly be interesting to see how active the Canucks become as sellers on the market, especially with the trade deadline getting closer.
