Dylan Holloway breaks silence after leaving Oilers

The Oilers chose not to match the Blues' offer sheet for Holloway.

The St. Louis Blues made a rare move in today's NHL by issuing not one but two offer sheets. They extended offers to Edmonton Oilers restricted free agents Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg, both of whom are now members of the Blues after Oilers general manager Stan Bowman chose not to match the offers.

Speaking for the first time since becoming an official member of the Blues, Holloway stated that he's excited for the opportunity with St. Louis that likely wasn't going to be coming with Edmonton thanks to the bevy of star power up front that they boast in the lineup.

"Yeah, for sure. I definitely feel I’m going to get more opportunity here in St. Louis," Holloway said on Tuesday via Zoom. "Edmonton has some pretty good star power up front, so it’s going to be near impossible to move those guys out of their spots.

"I think for me, I’d say it’s a bittersweet pill to swallow just because you’re going to miss all the guys. I had some good relationships with the guys up there, but at the same time I’m excited for the opportunity, I’m excited to be part of this young group of guys in St. Louis and excited for the opportunity."

Holloway played 38 games last season with the Oilers, scoring six goals with three assists. He also played 18 games with the American Hockey League Baskersfield Condors, scoring 10 goals and six assists.
