Detroit Red Wings Jake Walman was a revelation for the team since his return to the lineup this past November from offseason surgery, forming one of the top pairings in the National Hockey League with Moritz Seider and eventually being rewarded with a three year contract extension.
And while he was scheduled to represent his native Canada in the upcoming World Championship, that plan has now changed. According to a recently released report, Walman is dealing with an upper body ailment and will not be participating.
Walman set career highs this past season in goals with nine, and was forever made a highlight reel with his infamous "Griddy" celebration after netting the overtime game-winning goal against Pittsburgh in late December:
