Disaster season for Bruins first round pick after being drafted.

The Boston Bruins have watched their first round pick have a terrible season after picking him.

While it is still relatively early in his development, the Boston Bruins have just witnessed a less than ideal season from the man they selected with a first round pick at the 2024 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Over the weekend, Boston College was eliminated from Frozen Four contention when Denver Hockey defeated them by a score of 3-1 to advance and secure their own spot in the Frozen Four moving forward.

That meant the end of the season for Boston Bruins first round draft pick Dean Letourneau, who played his first season with Boston College as an 18 year old this year(Letourneau turned 19 in February). Unfortunately for the young forward it was the kind of season he will most likely want to forget after going goalless through his 36 games with Boston College, only managing to pick up 3 assists over the entire season.

It is not the kind of season you want to see from one of your high-end prospects and it is one that I believe will be viewed even more unfavorably given some of the recent moves by general manager Don Sweeney. Sweeney of course made the highly controversial decision to trade Bruins captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers this season, and while he did get a first round pick in return the value of that first round pick will be determined entirely by Sweeney's ability to select a good player at the draft.

While it is still far, far, too early to write off Letourneau, who remains a very young man with plenty of development in his future, seeing such a lackluster season from one of the team's most recent first round picks certainly won't inspire confidence moving forward.
