Dirty hit from Jacob Trouba leads to scrap with Brayden Schenn on Sunday night.

Veteran Anaheim Ducks defenseman Jacob Trouba was up to his old tricks on Sunday night, but this time Trouba's penchant for crossing the line came with some consequences.

On Sunday night, Trouba and the Ducks faced off against the St. Louis Blues and it would be during the final minutes of the game's opening period that Trouba would provoke the ire of the Blues.

Trouba would launch himself into the head of Blues forward Jordan Kyrou, with Trouba appearing to stick his arm out as he drove it into the head of his opponent. Kyrou would collapse to the ice and stayed down, clutching at his head, but Blues captain Brayden Schenn was right next to the incident and immediately challenged Trouba to respond.

Here's a close up of the hit that would provoke the fight:

As I mentioned Schenn would immediately challenge Trouba following the hit, but unfortunately for the Blues, Trouba was more than ready to continue delivering more punishment. The Ducks defenseman appeared to get the better of Schenn as both men traded punches, buckling Schenn at one point before he eventually fell back down to the ice, off balance.

Here is a close up replay of the scrap between Schenn and Trouba:

Trouba has delivered this exact type of hit several times throughout his career in the National Hockey League and has often found himself on the wrong side of the NHL's Department of Player Safety. No word yet on whether or not the league will be taking this latest hit under review.
