Devastating official update on Connor McDavid's injury.
The Edmonton Oilers have provided an update on the injury suffered by their captain on Saturday night.
The Edmonton Oilers have just shared some terrible news.
In an official injury update published on Sunday, the Oilers have announced that captain Connor McDavid is expected to miss the next one to two weeks due to the injury he suffered on Saturday night. The biggest part of this news is effectively a confirmation that McDavid will miss the upcoming Heritage Classic between the Oilers and Calgary Flames which is scheduled to take place one week from today.
McDavid did not play the last several minutes of regulation on Saturday and was also absent in overtime after he was spotted favoring his left side above his hip. No specific details regarding the nature of the injury have been released at this time, but this is a huge blow to an Oilers team that was already off to a disappointing start to the season.
If you watch closely in the clip below, McDavid can be seen clutching his body above his left hip before heading to the bench with roughly 4 minutes remaining in the third period of Saturday night's game.
